As community members return home after incarceration or criminal legal system involvement, they face enormous barriers to rebuilding their lives.
To disrupt cycles of poverty, unemployment, housing instability and discrimination, CCA collaborates with hundreds of community members each year, offering job training, housing and legal support.
We run the first-in-the-nation partnership between a non-profit and a public housing authority to provide transitional housing to people returning home from jail and prison, as well as affordable housing and permanent supportive housing.
What makes Freedom Commons so unique is the strong sense of community and hope built by residents and staff. Here, neighbors greet each other in the halls, share community meals and co-create a safe and welcoming environment. It is a place where lives transform day by day, offering a path to a better future.
