For decades, CCA has provided peer support, treatment, and harm-reduction services for community members who actively use substances or are in recovery.
By championing peer-led services, listening to our participants and collaborating with cutting-edge health practitioners, CCA has become a leader in recovery and harm-reduction. In Brooklyn, Syracuse, and Rochester, we offer community, medication, and resources for people to transform their lives on their own terms.
People who use drugs or are in recovery face stigma, discrimination, criminalization, and degradation, which only further pushes them into the margins. Due to the legacy of the War on Drugs, people who use substances - especially Black and Latinx people - are overrepresented in jails and prisons across the nation. Meanwhile, the opioid epidemic continues to devastate communities across the state. New Yorkers are dying at a rate of 15 people a day from opioid-related overdoses.
Through our Brooklyn Wellness Center, we offer medication-assisted treatment, including methadone. Medication-assisted treatment is safe, effective, and proven to save lives by dramatically reducing the risk of overdose deaths in people returning from incarceration.
In Syracuse and Rochester, our peer-recovery centers are led by and for community members in recovery to offer needed support.
