Project Description
Janel Callon is the co-founder and CEO of the Ichigo Foundation, a small foundation that focuses on college access and success for people from under-resourced communities. She lived in Japan for 26 years and moved to Brooklyn in 2020 to begin running the foundation.
While in Japan, Ms. Callon worked as a lawyer at Baker McKenzie and Morgan Stanley. She later received a Master of Arts in School Counseling from Seton Hall University and worked for five years as a counselor at an international high school as well as a part time college advisor at a number of Japanese high schools.
Ms. Callon received a Bachelor of Arts in History and Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University in 1987 and a Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School in 1993.
